Developer Looking to Build a New
Restaurant on Okemos Road Property

OKEMOS - One of the most talked about topics at Township Board meeting was the Okemos Road Redevelopment project.

The board received various offers from developers but settled on the bid from Kris Elliott, owner and operator of Peppino's in East Lansing among other restaurants, of Evergreen Companies. Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus was excited about Elliot's bid.

"We get a great restaurant, the bid we received was $10,000 higher than any other bidders and we won't have to use any tax credits. We should be able to steamroll ahead on this project."

A restaurant with outdoor seating is expected to be built on the property where the former Central Fire Station once stood.

The Township Board will meet next month to officially approve Elliott's bid and the project could be finished as soon as the end of next year.
