• Energy efficient light bulb

MERIDIAN TWP, MI - The State of Michigan has something very green to add to its resume.

According to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, Michigan is the most improved state in the country for energy efficiency in 2011.

Meridian Township has taken several steps to improve their efficiency; such as installing motion censored lights, energy efficient light bulbs, and encouraging employees to power down electronics when not in use.

"Part of our thought on the energy team is to set an example, so if we can improve our efficiency then it's a little easier to go out and tell other people to be efficient" said LeRoy Harvey, Meridian Townships recycling coordinator.

Michigan is now the 17th most energy efficient state in America.
