OKEMOS - With a first-year head coach, Okemos girls lacrosse pushed its limits to the extreme.

When facing three-time defending champs, East Grand Rapids, walked into Chieftain Country Wednesday night, the Lady Chiefs finally met their match, losing, 9-5.

“I don’t think anybody gave us much of a chance to stand in that game and stick with them,” Okemos Head Coach Holtz said after the loss. " We battled for the full 50 minutes."

Okemos finishes its year 16-4 with a whole bunch of hope for next season and the season after that... and the season after that.

"We had six freshmen on the field at the end of the game, which is a testament of what our future is going to be like,” Holtz said.

Down, 9-2, going into the fourth quarter, Okemos chipped away at its deficit scoring three unanswered.
