MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township welcomed a new police officer and promoted another to sergeant.

Rick Grillo, who has already been an officer in the township, was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and gave his oath while holding his son in his arms.

Brian Dow, who recently moved to Bath Township, was joined at the podium by his mother, as he swore in to become a new police officer in Meridian Township.

“I love meridian township, it reminds me a lot of back home, the city I grew up in, so I'm very proud to be here,” said Dow.

As a new officer, Dow will undergo a lengthy training period before he is able to go into full duty.
