Solar Parks are a Possibility for
Meridian Township

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township could be making strides to go green, with the Solar Energy Committee receiving a presentation on solar parks.

Solar parks involve placing panels in an area that has optimal sunlight.

Homeowners who don't have a favorable location for solar energy can purchase a panel. The electricity produced by this panel would be taken off, or used as a bill credit off of the home-owner's electric bill.

"Solar energy is environmentally friendly, and a progressive activity, and it just kind of shows that the township is kind of on the cutting edge of these sorts of technologies," said John Sarver, Meridian Township Environmental Commissioner.

However, solar panels in Meridian are still a ways away from becoming a reality.

Consumer's Energy needs specific approval of their plans to create solar parks, before than can approach communities to create the parks.

If you're interested in solar parks, there will be more information on them and their use at the Ingham County Renewable Energy Fair this summer.
