New Legislation Could Require Schools to
Post Vaccination Rates

LANSING - A new bill introduced by 23rd District State Senator Curtis Hertel, Jr. could require schools to post their vaccination rates on their websites.

Under Hertel's proposed legislation, schools and daycares would be required to post the percentage of children who received vaccinations. He said the idea behind the bill is to protect those who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons.

"This is just common sense legislation," Hertel said. "Parents should know. They should have easy access to the information and it should be readily available for the republic. And i don't see how anybody could oppose that."

Hertel said schools and daycares posting their vaccination rates would allow parents to make more educated decisions on where they want to send their child.
