Environmental Stewardship Award Nominations Due March 1st

Environmental Stewardship Award
Nominations Due March 1st

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Environmental Commission is accepting nominations for the Environmental Stewardship Awards through March 1st.

Starting in 1997, the awards is established to recognize individuals and groups which make significant contribution to environment protection.

Meridian Township Associate Planner Rick Brown said he has received three nominations so far. The Environmental Commission will discuss the nominations next week and announce the award winners in early April.

Brown said some people have received the awards more than once. Eckhart Dersch, for example, received an award for "Commitment to the Environment" in 2001 and a lifetime achievement award in 2013.

The Environmental Commission is still looking for nominees, so if you know of anyone who has contributed to the environment, you are encouraged to fill out nomination form or contact Rick Brown by email at brown@meridian.mi.us.
