Pulled Off a Gritty Win Against Jackson
High

OKEMOS - What a wild ride this game was. Up until the tail end of the 3rd quarter it was a Jackson lead that had been sustained almost all game. Once the chiefs got it down to a 1 point deficit, they quickly closed the gap and started to make all the necessary plays to slowly pull ahead.

This as we all know is a game of runs, and when Jackson hit a shooting slump in the 4th quarter, Okemos and MVP of the night Katie Mead took control and held on to the late lead.

Mead was spectacular on the night, displaying her range and ability to finish in traffic en route to a 20 point showing that should hopefully, catapult her into a strong game on Senior Night.

After the game Coach Tyler Hursey reflected on what brought them the win at home "on the defensive side we gave up a lot of offensive rebounds in the first half, and we did a better job in the second half. katie mead really stepped up for us and gave us some points. she had 20 points and was really looking for her shot so that really helped us tonight." The Lady Chiefs look to defend their homecourt once more this Friday against Holt in a doubleheader with the men's team.
