MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - John Free was one of the four authors featured during Tuesday's night Reading and Booking Signing Event at Schuler Books in Meridian Mall on February 17th.

Free Released his first book, a fiction novel title "The Portraits of Gods," on January 17, 2015.

What makes Free different from many authors is that he is a full-time dad and has been a police officer for Meridian Township for nearly 18 years.

Free's novel was published under his surname of John Kingston.

Free is no stranger to writing, he actually wrote his first book when he was only 6-years-old.

Now, with his first book published, Free told us how it feels to have his work out there for the world to read.

"It's great! The momentum has been great. It's been a little overwhelming and I have to write another book now within two years, per contract. So, suddenly it went from being a hobby to I've kinda taken on another job," said Free.

Free also told us it's not easy juggling being a father, police officer, and writer, but he does make sure to make time to write every day.

"The Portraits of Gods" is currently available for purchase through Schuler Books and Amazon. The novel is scheduled o be realized as an e-book this April.
