OKEMOS - Meridian Mall rang in the Chinese New Year with an event hosted by the Greater Lansing Chinese Association.

Members of the community gathered at the mall to join in on the holiday fun.

Singing, meditating, and other cultural performances took place to celebrate the year of the goat.

"So yeah, we wish everyone a year of peace and harmony," said Julie Jiang, event chair of the Greater Lansing Chinese Association.

2016 will be the year of the monkey, symbolizing wit and curiosity.

This was the third time Meridian Mall hosted the Chinese New Year event.
