Okemos Chiefs Keep it Competitive with
Lady Trojans

OKEMOS - Okemos girls basketball has not started their season the way they hoped. With an 0-8 record heading into tipoff, could they make a change in the right direction against the roughed up Lady Trojans?

Early on in a defensive battle, East Lansing point guard Aazh Nye would get the offense going, finding an open Jaida Hampton for three. Hampton led all East Lansing players with 8 points.

Shortly after, Hampton returned the favor off a board, sending a bullet up the court to Nye in the post. Nye did the rest with a nifty spin and splash.

Okemos 5-foot-10 forward Emily Weiss responded with a smooth j, but turnovers proved costly as East Lansing swept the night, 39-32, as head coach Rob Smith and his team surge on through tough times.

"We were just coming off a really tough loss at Grand Ledge on Tuesday," East Lansing head coach Rob Smith. "Unforunately, we lost four kids in one day for various reasons. Take nothing away from Okemos those kids played their butts off."

Okemos will have another shot at the win column Friday night hosting Lansing Everett. Everett is 3-6 on the season but beat the Chiefs, 51-25, earlier this season.
