Haslett Artist

UPDATE: HASLETT - 16 out of 93 artists were chosen to have their work shown in Mackinac Island's new art museum, and one of them lives right here in Haslett.

Photo artist Penelope Milliman was selected by jurist S.K. Young of Detroit to display one of her photographs in the Richard and Jane Manoogian Art Museum on Mackinac Island. Milliman owns her own business, Penelope Art, which specializes in portraits of families, children, and high school seniors. Milliman says she has been taking pictures at Mackinac Island for thirty years and never gets tired of it.

The selection for the new museum required that artists' work portray something Mackinac-themed, and Milliman chose a portrait that contained buggies, the Mackinac Straits, the Grand Hotel, and even bicycles.

Milliman's selection, along with the other artists' work, will be on display in the Manoogian Art Museum through October.
