Amendment Passed to Allow More than One
Residence on Qualified Land

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A Zoning Amendment allowing more than one residence on a rural residential zone site 50 acres or more in size passed on Tuesday, October 7th after being presented in front of the Township Board three times.

There are currently three parcels of land in the township that are at 50 acres or more.

This amendment allows those owners to build another house on that land if they so choose. It was initiated by the Planning Commission at the request of a property owner who currently has more than 50 acres. The Commission then recommended to the Board to amend the ordinance and allow owners the opportunity to build other residence on their land.

Even though there were concerns when the amendment was first brought up in July, the amendment passed with a 7 to 0 vote from the Board.
