Sip N' Snack Location

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - After 60 years of serving the community, the Sip N' Snack in Downtown Okemos became Coco Loco's Tacos back in 2012. Now the restaurant is undergoing another change. Coco Loco's Tacos closed in late August and the New Thai Kitchen is getting ready to open its doors.

Local owner, Ying Chou who previously owned East Lansing's Thai Kitchen for 21 years said he and his wife decided to buy the restaurant when they noticed there weren't any sources for Thai food from Grand River Avenue to I-96. The two began renovating the space in early September.

"We are feeling pretty good with the town and the community too," Chou said. "They know us well and a lot of people were disappointed when we closed down and sold our place in East Lansing. We're going to add one more word and say New Thai Kitchen, so I hope some of those old customers hear about us coming back to town."

Renovations which will cost approximately $80,000 will include tearing down the entire diner-like set up to make room for an oriental atmosphere while also building a whole new kitchen.

Residents can expect the Thai restaurant to be up and running by late November early December.
