Four Variances Denied by Zoning Board of Appeals

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the September 10th meeting, the Meridian Township Zoning Board of Appeals discussed one new item of business.

Roger Hunnicutt of Bath requested a variance through four different sections in the Code of Ordinances in regards to his house on Lake Lansing.

Honneycutt wished to allow: a vegetated area adjacent to Lake Lansing be less than 20 feet in width apart, a hot tub and waterfall wall to be installed less than 10 feet from an existing single-family residence, a patio to be constructed less than four feet from the rear lot line and an elevated fire pit to be located less than five feet from the rear lot line at 6415 E. Reynolds.

The Zoning Board of Appeals ruled that these variances did not fit within the strict reading of Michigan code and did not meet the general public's interest.
