Planning Commission Discusses Design of New Hotel

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Plans for a new hotel in Meridian Township were discussed at the September 8th Planning Commission Meeting.

One of the topics discussed for the site at Jolly Oak Road and Water Lilly Way was the the design of the building. Planning Commissioner John Scott-Craig said that while the township has no formal guidelines for how the building should look, he hopes it will have more brick in its design to match the surrounding area.

"Most of those buildings that are in existence are predominantly brick in order to be harmonious," said Planning Commissioner John Scott-Craig. "Now, you heard comments from some others on the commission that think they'd like something different, so, it is a personal preference thing. I had one idea, and others of the commissioners had others."

Commissioner Scott-Craig said that the design of the Home2 hotel chain's buildings varies from site to site, but he said that, if the buildings have a signature look, he expects that to be the design the company uses.
