MSU vs. Central

EAST LANSING - One week after their meltdown in South Bend, MSU was eager to bounce back and a struggling Chippewa Team may be exactly what they needed.

First possession, Quarterback Kirk Cousins aired out this 54 yard bomb to Flanker BJ Cunningham who powered his way inside the one yard line. Le’veon Bell punched it in on the next play to put green and white up early.

They never looked back from there, after another rushing score by Bell, the Spartan defense took over. Sophomore Safety Isaiah Lewis took one of four interceptions thrown by Chip’s QB’s to the house midway through the second quarter.

Today’s game was an important evaluation for MSU’s running attack after accumulating only 29 yards last week against the Irish.

Offensive Coordinator Dan Rouchar:
"I think what you saw is Edwin running very hard...we ran him inside, and then Le'Veon got some opportunities to get the ball on the perimeter and made some plays there. But really as we went in I think we felt like those two guys had to establish themselves and we had to get them in the flow of it."

Spartan Running Back Le'Veon Bell:
"Out mindset for all the running backs is run angry...run like were mad at someone. We're tough to tackle because we're all strong guys, so that's what we all try to do is run hard."

MSU tallied 197 yards rushing, including 81 from Bell, who averaged ten a carry.
