Ingham County Receives Funding for
Road Maintenance

INGHAM COUNTY - The Ingham County Road Department has finalized plans for resurfacing Bennett Road between Hagadorn Road and Okemos Road in Meridian Township. The project will consist of removing existing pavement, regarding existing road gravel, and repaving, along with intersection widening at Okemos Road, including ADA sidewalk ramp upgrades and storm sewer and culvert replacements. Construction is anticipated to start after July 4th.

Bennett Road, along with many others in Ingham County, are in poor condition due to Michigan's extremely harsh winter resulting in several pot holes in the area.

Counties, cities, and villages across the state recently received a combined $60.9 million to help restore road maintenance budgets that were depleted by Michigan's tough winter. The $60.9 million is part of the $100 million for special winter road maintenance provided in a supplemental appropriations bill enacted by the Michigan legislature and signed into law March 14th by Governor Snyder.

Of that, more than $795,000 are going to repairs for Ingham County. Ingham County Road Department Managing Director, Bill Conklin, said that at this time they do not know how much of that is going directly to Meridian Township.
