MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With a new year, comes new goals...

The 2014 Township Goals and Objectives were presented at the Township Board meeting on January 21.

Some of the items on the draft included enhancing the Haslett business corridor and completing the design and construction of the central fire station. The Township is also looking into expanding recycling, enhancing road improvements and adding more sidewalks. Township Manager Frank Walsh asked the board to take the draft home and make any corrections or revisions they see fit.

"I'm just trying to get down a blue print of what you want to get accomplished this year that's all we are trying to do," said Walsh. "So if there are other suggestions on how to move it forward it's totally up to you, but I'm trying to move it forward in the most predictable way that we can to move this thing forward at all."

Some of the items that are not in the goals will be placed in the Work Plan which will be assigned by Walsh. The topics that were taken off the list already was the development of a dog park, since that should come from the Park Commission and marihuana, since it will be in front of the Planning Commission. The goals should be finalized by the next Township Board meeting on February 4.
