First Hearing on Flagstar Bank,
Traffic Study Pending

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Planning Commission had their first hearing December 9th for the building of a Flagstar Bank. The business is looking to build on the southeast corner of Washington Heights Avenue and Grand River Avenue.

It won't be just a bank though, a loan office will also be attached. This will most likely lessen the amount of traffic a typical branch would get.

However, the Commission was still eager for the upcoming traffic analysis results.

"I think just seeing that would really, especially for any of my concerns for traffic, assuming that comes through, is not adding to the burden there, but I think this is a great development, you know community banking is great to make loans and investments in the area, so I'm all for it," said Commissioner Dante Ianni.

The presentation was the first step to having the bank's special permit approved.

Questions concerning the bank's three lanes and layout were asked and answered during the meeting. More information concerning this building's affect on traffic will be received after the study is conducted.

So far, both the Road Commission and MDOT have okay-ed the bank's two access drives located off of both avenues.
