MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Members of Meridian Township were invited to help brainstorm ideas for what they want to see for the future of the Michigan and Grand River Avenue Corridor.

They were hoping for ways to increase walk ability, the bus rapid transit system and energy sustainability. The Charrette received input from all ranges of people, all with thoughts on how to improve community development.

"All different types of infastructures, utilites, water, streets, homes, sidewalks, businesses and everything relates to each other," said the recycling and and energy coordinator for Meridian Township, LeRoy Harvey. "Doing something with one area impacts the other so how can we do this more systematically."

Members of Meridian Township, neighboring communities, experts from across the country, Chippewa Middle School students, and architects and artists helped design and contribute. It's an educational and creative way to possibly improve the area and get more people involved.
