Cornell Road Construction Progress

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Cornell Road construction is one step closer to completion. Workers are currently pulverizing the existing pavement with a gravel base to lay over a plastic fabric. They will then be laying 4 inches of asphalt over that pulverized pavement. They are hoping this base will make the road nicer and last longer.

"It saves money and its reusing existing material. We are actually reusing existing material from two places. One from Cornell road, the pulverized part and then the recycled asphalt that was milled off Marsh road. We are reusing that so by doing that it is going to make the base of the road a lot stronger," said the Director of Public Works and Engineering, Ray Severy.

They will also be cutting down the hill just south of Tihart Road to make it safer and increase visibility. While the road is only open to workers and people who live on the road, it is expected to be completed by mid-November.
