New Public Art Sculpture

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The roundabout at Marsh and Hamilton roads will be getting a new art sculpture, thanks to a $10,000 Placemaking Public Art Grant received from the Lansing Economic Area Partnership
(LEAP).

A six person committee was formed to decide the artist and a total of 9 submissions were received.

Tim Higgins was selected with his proposed, "Meridius Prime" sculpture. A draft of the sculpture, along with previous artwork by Higgins was submitted to the Township Board.

Approval by the Board was required before the project can move forward.

"I think its a really nice artwork. I looked at the design and I think its great that someone is actually taking that to the next level," said the Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus.

The consensus was to approve the Public Art Committee's recommendation.
