Harris Nature Center Toasts to the
Turtle!

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center Foundation would like to make a toast in honor of Doug DeLind's Turtle Sculpture that is underway at the Harris Nature Center.

The Turtle Toast takes place on Thursday, September 26th from 5pm until 8pm at the Harris Nature Center.

There will be appetizers and deserts by Dusty's Cellar; live music by the Members of the Grand River Band and an opportunity to meet the artist. The event is a fundraiser Open House to raise money for the finishing of the turtle sculpture and also the foundation will unveil their next big project.

Barbra Kissling, Former President of the Harris Nature Center Foundation, had this to say about the project, "Its a very hands on interactive site that we hope to create".

Children will get to enjoy tree surfing, digging for fossils and also new tree house and so much more.

"When people see the sketches we have they just get so excited; and the children just go nuts," said Kissling.

Once the interactive play place is complete Park Naturists will incorporate the area into their lesson plans for school visits and summer camps.

The completion of the project will take as long as it takes to raise funds. Both the foundation and the construction company are working together to map out the project so plans will always be changing.
