Car Sales Improving

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - With July zooming past, car sales have been reported and according to USA TODAY it has been one of the best preforming months in years. Detroit's Big 3 saw strong sales increases with General Motors with a 16% sale gain, while Ford and Chrysler both reported a 11% sale gain. Nissan also saw a 11% gain and set a July sales record.

Greg Jenca, a Salesman at Graff Chevrolet, explained why he thinks car sales are on the rise, "Its going to be a great year for car sales, truck sales. Big reason is the incentive they have on them. At that point it does doesn't make sense to buy a one or two year old truck when you can buy a brand new one for the same price."

After speaking with dealerships in the area they all explained that the diverse model lines, more people interested in leasing and awareness in the community have been major factors in people driving away in a new car.

"I think the experience when they walk in the door, we actually great our customers out in the parking lot, we don't even wait for them to get to the door and that just sets the tone and sets the comfortableness for them to trust us," said Carol Gomori, Controller at Nissan Lansing.

With the model year ending, low interest rates, many different incentives and a steady rebound in the US economy could make this the time to buy or lease a new car.
