MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - During the latest Meridian Township Planning Commission meeting a defining moment came when commission members decided to move forward with the Adult Day Care Center project.

The New Life International Church, located on 2630 Bennett Road, in Okemos has asked for approval to maintain an adult day care center on its premises. One of the key technicalities to this item is over the fact that the church is in a residential zone. Day care centers in Meridian Township do not reside in residential zones.

"Say, this is now part of the zoning structure, and this will make it easier for any applicant to come forward and say 'this is now part of the zoning structure' but everyone will still go have to go through the hoops," Commissioner Ody Norkin said.

The next step in this process is for the commissioners to gather together and create a definition for what an adult day care center in Meridian Township is.
