Okemos Girls Lacrosse Wins Regionals, 
Loses in State Tournament

OKEMOS - The Okemos Chieftains' season came to a close last week with their loss to East Grand Rapids High School in a Division 2 State Semi-Final match-up.

Okemos entered the game as regional champions after defeating East Lansing High School by a decisive score of 19-8. East Grand Rapids won their region in a 14-13 OT win against cross-town rival Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

Despite the Chieftains' playoff pedigree, East Grand Rapids defeated Okemos by a score of 13-5. The game was never in doubt, as East Grand Rapids lead 9-2 at half-time.

The loss ended Okemos' season, one win away from their second straight State Final appearance, and two wins from their third State Title since 2009.
