MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A new state law requires majority ownership by a municipality to decide on construction issues. Previously, roads and their maintenance were left up to the county in which they run. Now, if a government, say Meridian Township, has at least 51% ownership of a road, they can select who gets the contract to fix the roads up, potentially saving money.
