CATA Ribbon Cutting

UPDATE: LANSING - The Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) invited Lansing area residents to the unveiling of a new storage facility.

With a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony, the building was officially open to the public for an open house and tours.

The expansion of the the 204,000 square-foot building includes space for administration, bus storage and maintenance facilities.

All of the buses will be kept inside a heated garage to protect them from damaging weather, in line according to their morning routes.

Chair of the CATA Board of Directors, Pete Kuhnmuench said, "I think largely it gives our employees a better environment to do their jobs in and do it right. It will make us more efficient in that regard and being able to do service to those buses and maintain them in a professional manner above and beyond what we've been able to do so far."

The new facility was started back in 2008, when CATA received a grant worth almost $10 dollars. The people of CATA are proud to be unveiling this new addition on their 40th Anniversary of providing transportation to the Lansing area.
