Harris Nature Center Solar Panels

Harris Nature Center Solar Panels

UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Harris Nature Center installed solar electric panels. The panels feed electricity into the building. They save energy and reduce the building's electrical load. Any electricity that the nature center uses now is consumed directly from the solar.

There is one panel towards the front of the building and another one on the back side near the hawk enclosure.

Owner and operator of Peninsula Solar Ian Olmsted said, "There is also a solar powered webcam for the hawk enclosure and a solar powered monitoring station inside. That will give live output of the solar panels for people that want to see it."

According to Ian the price on solar panels are dropping dramatically and technology is improving rapidly, making them more common.
