OKEMOS/HASLETT - This year, Meridian Township has witnessed the start of various project developments and businesses all around the Okemos and Haslett area. This pandemic posed particular challenges to projects set for completion in the spring of next year.
Starting with Buddy’s Pizzeria located at 2010 West Grand River Road, this location is currently under construction, with the development process focusing on the interior part of the building as it requires additional systems built-in place. The facility is expected to open sometime in the spring of 2022.
Joe's on Jolly has been under construction for over eight months and is currently experiencing delays due to specific supply chain issues and construction framing complications. The development process has been slowly moving forward, with most of the exterior building constructed. The project is anticipated for completion later next year.
Haslett Marathon has currently been going under a renovation process featuring a new gas pump, an upgraded 6622 square foot facility, and the installation of new door frames and windows for the interior and exterior part of the building which is set for completion early 2022.
Tim Schmitt, Director of Community Planning and Development had stated, "We have seen a lot of uncertainty because of the upheaval that we had in the commodities market and the labor market this summer, and so we are just starting to get back to a new sense of normal, so I think we are going to have a bit of a quiet winter, I expect, and then I think next April or May it's going to get pretty crazy around here from a construction perspective."
