CADL Reconnects with the Community with the Help of Cheezy D's

HASLETT, MI - On Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 4 pm - 6 pm Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) hosted an ice cream event at Cheezy D’s. Now that the library is open, CADL wanted an opportunity to get back into the community and reconnect with their members. So with the help of local business, Cheezy D’s, CADL offered two free soft serves to those who presented their library card at the event. Head librarian of the CADL Haslett branch, Tom Moore, was happy to express his appreciation for support the library has received form their members, over these difficult times.

“We’re really excited to be able to get out into the community, especially given the last several months and year or so of COVID. So we’re happy to be out here and give a little back, and partner with Cheezy D’s. Which is a really great community partner, they do so many amazing things for the community.”

Along with celebrating the reopening of the libraries, CADL wanted to remind the Township of the summer reading program. Each year the summer reading program has a unique theme, this year’s theme is Tails and Tales. The library's events, crafts, and give-aways this summer will be centered around animals. This includes a wild life challenge that involves the whole Township.

“New clues are set up each week at the Haslett branch, the Okemos branch, Harris Nature Center, and the Okemos Cultural Heritage Center. So pick up a field notebook from the library and then make your stops around each week to find the clues and record them in your book and guess which animal is visiting Meridian Township.”
