MPSC Urges Homeowners/Contractors to Postpone for Excavation

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The month of April is usually a national Safe Digging Month. With the coronavirus pandemic in play, a big importance is added in making sure situations are under control.

MPSC (Michigan Public Service Commission ) urges homeowners and contractors to postpone any non essential digging. The Executive Order 2020-21 directs all Michigan businesses and operations to temporally suspend in-person operations that are not necessary to protect lives.

If digging cannot be postponed, the MPSC explains that it is by law that if you do still need to proceed with the project, to call MISS DIG 811 to have underground utilities marked before digging anything.

It is very important to take these orders seriously, lives and property are at risk.

Digging should also be postponed due to some local governments not able to mark buried utilities such as sewer lines and water.
