Meridian Township Police Investigate Motor Vehicle Crash; One Driver Deceased

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Saturday, February 22nd, at about 2:43 pm, Meridian Township Police responded to a three vehicle crash near the area of Mount Hope Road and Comanche Drive.

The crash resulted in one death and injuries to many others. The crash occurred when a vehicle lost control as it was traveling eastbound on Mount Hope Road, and drove into oncoming westbound traffic striking two other vehicles. The deceased driver has been identified as 53-year old Lansing resident Ronald Spitzley.

Alcohol was not believed to play any role in this incident. This investigation is still ongoing and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Meridian Township Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State University Police, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office and the Lansing Police Department.
