Meridian Township's 2019 Local Road Program

Meridian Township's 2019 Local Road Program

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the September 17th Meridian Township Board Meeting, Deputy Township Manager and Director of Public Works and Engineering, Derek N. Perry, gave a presentation on the newest projects happening for local roads.

Developing and implementing a strategic long term solution for local street funding is at the top of Meridian Township's goals for 2019.

The 2019 Local Road Program is not funded through the Bond Proposal recently approved by voters, but rather the current Township road millage.

According to the memo to the Board, this Summer, the 2018 paving work that was delayed the previous year was completed successfully using the Hot-In-Place-Recycling method at a cost of $741,833 and providing 3.1 miles of new pavement.

For 2019, several projects are being completed which will provide an additional two miles of new paving in the Township.

These projects are taking place along Towner Road, Hagadorn Road and Birch Row and five cul-de-sacs with PASER ratings of 2, which the Township would like to resurface using the remaining 2019 local road budget.

The Township Board approved Director Perry to reaffirm their commitment to make improvements to Towner Road, Hagadorn Road and Birch Row and the five cul-de-sacs.
