Michigan State University Holding Annual Science Festival

EAST LANSING - Michigan State University (MSU) is currently holding its 7th annual MSU Science Festival on campus and surrounding areas.

With over 250 activities, there are plenty of presentations to see and things to learn. From the the planets all around us, to parasitic creatures, the festival aims to educate and entertain all visitors, no matter the age.

In MSU's Chemistry Building, all kinds of science concerning biology was available. One room had a sign on the door that read, "Become a diagnostic detective!"

"You get to see the biology section, explore the different types of animals. So you know we got frogs and a snake," said Abdul Rahman Alharthi, a current student at MSU.

Sure enough, inside was a row of aquariums with frogs inside. Nearby, visitors were given the opportunity to hold a garter snake. Some were enthusiastic about holding the serpent, and others were a little hesitant.

On the other side of the room, visitors were also able to try out using a microscope to examine some white and red blood cells, as well as a parasitic worm that was found in another animal.

Thankfully, there was a hand-washing station nearby.

The event will come to Harris Nature Center for an open house on April 14, and will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival started on April 5, and it will run until April 20, giving visitors plenty of time to check out what the university has in store this year.
