Aldi Apartments Expected to be Resident
Ready by August

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In 2013, construction of the Aldi on Marsh Road in Okemos was approved as part of a mixed use planning unit development, or MUPUD.

“So it started off with Aldi, so they build the Aldi. Aldi came around in end of 2013 and they got their permits and everything and they’re doing it as a mixed use planning unit development- MUPUD, which requires a residential component," Meridian Township Associate Planner Peter Menser said.

The project began with the development of an Aldi grocery store in the Fall of 2013, and when the store was complete, developers began laying the foundation for the apartments in the Fall of 2015.

"[There will be] twenty-one apartments, mix of two and three bedroom apartments, so kind of a mid-range, they're very nice," Menser said.

Individual unit components will include in room washers and dryers, a master bedroom with a walk-in closet, and two bathrooms.

An official completion date has not yet been determined, but the complex is expected to be resident ready by August of this year.
