Local Programming Places in National
Competition

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors(NATOA)announced the 2013 Government Programming Award Winners. Meridian Township is one of three Michigan municipalities recognized for efforts in programming excellence this year. HOMTV was acknowledged for excellence in the following categories: Visual Arts, Use of Social Media, Election Coverage, and Public Affairs.

“It’s not easy to win these awards. Many communities we compete against have budgets much larger than ours and are submitted by major cities like Tampa, Austin and Tacoma. HOMTV programming is created by staff and students interns. It speaks volumes to have their work even be mentioned in the same category,” said Communications Director Deborah Guthrie.

Communications Director Guthrie also stated that the variety of awards won reflects the variety of
services and programming HOMTV offers to the residents in Meridian Township. The winners were announced on September 19th in Orlando, Florida at the Government Programming Awards gala event during NATOA’s Annual Conference.
