Village of Okemos Soil Remediation Process

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - As the Village of Okemos redevelopment project begins the process of soil remediation, drivers will have to maneuver around road closures.

Hamilton Road is currently closed between Ardmore avenue and Okemos Road.

True North Development Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer William C. Randle explained the first step in the soil remediation process.

"Right now, we’re performing the sheeting and shoring work which is structural work to allow the dig by EGLE to take place on the corner of the old dry cleaners site."

After the first sheeting and shoring phase is completed, EGLE be removing approximately 4,000 tons of contaminated soil from the southeast corner of Hamilton Road and Ardmore Avenue.

During this process, drivers are advised to find alternate routes to get to their destination.

Although road closures are inconvenient, they will be a necessary part of this project. Hamilton Road is expected to reopen again in late August.
