Elder Abuse Awareness Symposium
Tri-County Office on Aging
Tri-County Office on Aging received funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) under the Prevent Elder and Vulnerable Adult Abuse, Exploitation, and Neglect Today (PREVNT) Initiative. The primary purpose of this grant is awareness and prevention in Ingham County, with a focus on minority and LGBTQ communities. Those attending this event can expect a keynote speaker, panel discussion including representatives from vulnerable communities and elder abuse advocates followed by an audience discussion, resource tables and refreshments. All roads lead to Meridian Township for our annual Independence Day Celebration and Food Truck Rally! Kick start the weekend with the "Celebrate Meridian Bring Back the Mile" event Friday, June 29th at 7:00 pm sponsored by Playmakers. Proceeds will benefit the Meridian Cares Program, helping families in need in Meridian Township. Saturday, June 30th the fun begins with the Meridian Township Farmers' Market in the Meridian Mall parking lot from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Local vendors will be selling fresh produce, homemade goods and more. Get ready for the Food Truck Rally, bringing the best gourmet food trucks Michigan has to offer all in the Meridian Mall parking lot. Over 40 food trucks will offer amazing food all in one location from all over the state. We start the afternoon off with the Country/Classic Rock band, Mama Tryd at 12:00 pm. Then starting at 3:00 pm hear the classic and contemporary rock songs from the New Rule. The days ends with an evening full of modern pop, classic rock, slow jams and funk from Avon Bomb starting at 7:00 pm. Fireworks finale scheduled for 10:15 pm.
