Using Biological Control to Save our Ash Trees
Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter
Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter will host a program entitled “Using Classical Biological Control to Save our Ash Treesâ€. The guest speaker will be Toby Petrice, Grad Student in the MSU Department of Entomology. He will introduce us to research being done on controlling Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) through biological control. EAB was first discovered in North America in 2002 and has since killed hundreds of millions of ash trees. In 2007, parasitoids were approved for release in the U.S. Mr. Petrice will discuss the impact of these species on EAB populations in Michigan over the last several years.
